Our co-design journey

The document Our co-design journey: what ‘home’ means to people with disability (PDF, 1.2MB) shares what we learned from people with disabilities and others about housing needs.

It shows how their voices were heard and how their ideas shaped the 5 pillars of Partnering for inclusive housing with Queenslanders with disability 2024–27 (PDF, 2.6MB) (Partnering for inclusive housing).

Both documents are closely connected and are best understood when read together.

Co-design and the passion and engagement of people with lived experience of disability, and the housing and disability sectors, were instrumental to shaping Partnering for inclusive housing with Queenslanders with disability 2024-2027

A strong message that came through in our co-design journey was the importance of people with lived experience of disability having an ongoing voice in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of matters that impact their home and life.

We have established an Expert Disability Housing Advisory Panel, which is chaired and fully led by people with lived experience of disability.
