Bob Atkinson Operational Capabilities Centre
The Bob Atkinson Operational Capabilities Centre (BAOCC) on the Wacol Police Complex provides a secure venue for the Queensland Police Service (QPS) to train in operational and tactical skills.
Completed in September 2020, the world-class training facility includes:
- live, indoor firing ranges
- specialist training areas for various activities
- a realistic village that replicates city, urban, rural, and public transport scenes for real-world scenario training.
Designed to bring together previously-dispersed training activities, the facility improves training efficiency for:
- more than 7,500 QPS in-service officers and members of specialist units
- 600 QPS recruits every year.
In addition, emergency service and defence agencies can participate in joint exercises at the facility, which supports greater partnerships and cooperation.
The project also included refurbishing the heritage-listed Jacaranda House to provide:
- workplace accommodation
- additional training facilities
- carparking.

Cairns Convention Centre Expansion and Refurbishment
The Cairns Convention Centre’s $176 million expansion and refurbishment:
- maximises the centre’s capabilities
- modernises the facilities
- brings new business to the tropical north.
The expansion supports ongoing employment opportunities in hospitality, logistics, security, and maintenance.
It is also expected to leverage around 20,000 additional visitors to the region, injecting up to $50 million into the local economy annually.

Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence
Under a long-term partnership, the Queensland Government used its extensive experience in the delivery of large capital works projects to oversee the construction of the MILVEHCOE on Rheinmetall's behalf.
Completed in mid-2020 by BESIX Watpac ahead of schedule and under budget, the $170 million, state-of-the-art MILVEHCOE is one of the most advanced military vehicle manufacturing facilities in Australia and an asset of national significance.
Spanning 11 hectares, the MILVEHCOE features:
- manufacturing, electronics, and administration buildings
- a corporate training centre
- an outdoor vehicle test track
- a 3-storey electromagnetic compatibility chamber
- a 100-metre fully enclosed weapons test firing tunnel
- car parking for employees and visitors, vehicle storage, refuelling and wash-down bays, water storage tanks, waste and recycling facilities.

Queensland Country Bank Stadium
Queensland Country Bank Stadium officially opened in Townsville in February 2020.
Home to the North Queensland Cowboys National Rugby League (NRL) team, the stadium boasts a capacity of 25,000
It is a centrally-located, best-practice, multi-purpose regional stadium that reflects Townsville's environment, history and communities.
As part of the Townsville Stadium Deal signed in December 2016, the stadium was a joint project of the Queensland Government, Australian Government and Townsville City Council, with support from the NRL and North Queensland Cowboys.

Satellite Hospitals Program
The Satellite Hospitals Program delivered 7 new facilities to support public healthcare delivery in rapidly-growing communities across South East Queensland.
All 7 sites were chosen to provide better access to healthcare for local communities in convenient settings, without the need to travel to major hospitals for care.

Thomas Ballet Centre
The Department of Housing and Public Works delivered the multiple award-winning Thomas Dixon Centre refurbishment project, in conjunction with Queensland Ballet.
The Major Projects team managed the design, procurement and construction in collaboration with the Queensland Government Accommodation Office, acting as owner of the property, and QBuild to ensure the Queensland community received a world-class site for ballet and the arts.
The redevelopment included a significant new building attached to the original heritage listed building, which housed a World War II air raid shelter.
The heritage-listed building was fully restored original features and today serves as:
- office spaces
- wellness areas
- gym and rehab facilities
- 4 dance studios.
The new building includes:
- 2 large dance studios
- dancers dressing rooms
- amenities
- break out spaces
- staff office spaces
- costume facilities
- a +350-seat performance theatre.
The 2 buildings are connected by an expanse double height space that serves as an entry point and reception area.
