Palm Island Rent-to-Buy Home Ownership Scheme
We’re committed to working with trustees in remote and discrete Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to create more opportunities for home ownership.
This includes the community on Palm Island.
The Palm Island Rent-to-Buy Home Ownership Scheme is a place-based initiative that helps make long-held community dreams of home ownership a reality. It offers an alternative pathway for social housing tenants on Palm Island to own their homes in a way that’s affordable and sustainable.
Through this scheme, social housing tenants on Palm Island can apply to buy their council-owned home by entering into a rent-to-buy agreement with the Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council as the trustee.
Find out how it works, and who may be eligible for the scheme.
