Increasing social and community housing supply

The Queensland Government has committed to deliver 53,500 social and community homes by 2044. This includes delivering 10,000 community homes on church and charity-owned land in partnership with the community housing sector, with 500 homes to be delivered in two years.

We are unlocking the community housing sector through the Queensland Community Housing Investment Pipeline (Q-CHIP), an always open pathway supporting community housing providers to bring forward new community housing projects across Queensland in partnership with developers, builders, local government, institutional investors and superannuation funds.

We will work in partnership with community housing providers and the Australian Government to deliver on the Queensland Government’s target, including through the Australian Government’s Housing Australia Future Fund.

Land Activation Program

The Land Activation Program is a nation-leading initiative which identifies, unlocks, then releases to market underutilised Government land for housing. It will support the Queensland Government in delivering one million new homes by 2044, giving more Queenslanders a place to call home
