Connecting people with disability to housing solutions

The Home Access for People with Disability (Home Access) service works with people with disability and their support networks to:

  • explore suitable housing options
  • develop personalised housing pathway plans
  • connect them with the right services and support.

We have provided funding to UnitingCare Queensland to deliver the service, which aims to complement existing services for people living with disability in Brisbane.

About Home Access

The Home Access service offers a range of support, including information and cross-agency coordination.

It provides:

  • multi-channel access
  • housing pathway planning
  • community-based support
  • service support and development.

The service also acts as a hub for sharing housing knowledge and building local networks, partnerships, and collaboration.

The Home Access service doesn’t just help individuals—it also supports professionals working in areas like hospitals and health services, custodial facilities, and youth detention centres. It delivers specialised housing advice to enhance workforce capability, including professional development, training, mentoring, and guidance.

Home Access does not provide:

  • crisis accommodation
  • emergency housing
  • temporary accommodation.
  • support for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Why UnitingCare was chosen

UnitingCare Queensland was selected to run the Home Access service in Brisbane through an open procurement process held in 2025.

Organisations had to meet strict requirements, including being a Queensland Government-approved provider, following ethical supplier standards, and providing financial and compliance documentation.
