Housing and Homelessness Action Plan 2021 - 2025
The Housing and Homelessness Action Plan 2021-2025 (PDF, 3466.73 KB) has been developed in the context of current and anticipated housing market conditions and need. We commit once again to the vision of the Queensland Housing Strategy—that every Queenslander has access to a safe, secure and affordable home that meets their needs and enables participation in the social and economic life of our prosperous state. The Action Plan reaffirms our objective to increase social and affordable homes and to transform the way housing services are delivered.
The plan provides a framework for delivering housing with support that is integrated across government and the community sector—an important step towards ending homelessness in Queensland. It is a whole of government plan with significant investment and actions to increase housing and provide better support.
This Action Plan builds on the strong foundations we've formed with key partners through the Queensland Housing Strategy Action Plan 2017-2020 (PDF, 786 KB) and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Action Plan 2019-2023 (PDF, 3.8 MB).
Read about what the plan will deliver for:
The Housing and Homelessness Action Plan 2021 – 2025 will be delivered through key initiatives, including:
Housing Investment Growth Initiative
The Queensland Housing Investment Growth Initiative will deliver new homes through a coordinated and integrated capital program across Queensland.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing
We will continue to close the gap for First Nations peoples by delivering tailored housing responses and by building on work already delivered under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Action Plan 2019–2023.
Towards ending homelessness
We will house people who are in crisis and better coordinate and integrate services across government and the sector. We will develop a new framework to ensure no person exits from a government service to homelessness.
A fair and sustainable housing sector
From private rentals to retirement living—we are providing protections and giving confidence to people who reside and invest in these housing options.
Domestic and family violence
We will support families experiencing domestic and family violence with housing options with support to meet their needs.
Local housing action plans
We are supporting councils to prepare local housing action plans to identify needs and solutions and help coordinate responses to housing challenges in their communities.
