The Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy administers the Commonwealth and State Government funded Category C Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements 2018 (DRFA) to non-government organisations, industry groups and peak bodies, community groups, and local governments located in areas impacted by declared disasters.
Community Recovery assists these communities to restore social networks, community connectivity and resilience, and community facilities.
Queensland Rainfall and Flooding events 2021–2022 Flexible Funding Grants
Grants are available to Queensland-based non-government organisation, research bodies, industry groups and peak bodies, community groups, and local government agencies impacted by the Central, Southern and Western Queensland Rainfall and Flooding, Ex TC Seth and SEQ Rainfall and Flooding, and Southern Queensland Flooding Events in 2021–2022 over two rounds detailed below.
Round Two - OPEN NOW
Funding is now available to drive recovery and develop preparedness and resilience in 39 flood-impacted local government areas (LGAs). Apply for:
- small grants of between $2,500 and $50,000
- large grants of between $50,001 and $100,000.
Applications are open to:
- Queensland-based non-government organisations
- research bodies
- industry groups
- peak bodies
- community groups
- local government agencies.
Total funding available in Round Two is up to $16.7 million.
Funded projects will contribute to one or more of the following disaster recovery outcomes:
- address the needs of vulnerable groups in disaster recovery
- make the community aware of the disaster recovery processes
- help the community to express its changing disaster recovery needs
- make community members aware of the risks of future disasters
- improve the community’s capacity and capability to respond to future disasters
- adequate mitigation practices for business and not-for-profit organisations for risks and threats
- engage government, private sector and civil society and organisations in plans for mitigation and management of the recovery.
Projects may be targeted to address specific recovery and resilience needs for:
- children and families
- young people
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities
- people with a disability
- seniors
- small businesses
- primary producers
- service providers.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- have a service outlet located in Queensland, or be auspiced by a Queensland-based organisation
- be located in one of the 39 eligible LGAs or deliver the project directly in or to one or more of the eligible LGAs
- have current or be prepared to take out and maintain public liability insurance of no less than $10 million, or be auspiced by a Queensland-based organisation that meets this public liability insurance requirement.
How to apply
Submit applications through the SmartyGrants website until 2pm (AEST) Wednesday, 7 June 2023.
Applicants may submit multiple applications for both small and/or large grants, however only one application per project is able to be submitted.
