Our Communities division delivers strategies, programs and initiatives that support thriving and inclusive Queensland communities.
We promote social cohesion and community resilience by supporting Queenslanders before, during and after disasters, providing access to support services and directing investment to create positive outcomes.
Our Community Services team connect Queenslanders to place-based support services through more than 125 neighbourhood community centres across the state, grants and funding programs, and financial assistance.
Our Community Recovery team supports Queenslanders to recover from natural disasters and crises to ensure the social, emotional, psychological, and physical health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. This includes administering personal financial hardship assistance grants and overseeing the Queensland Government’s Community Recovery Ready Reserve workforce. The workforce is deployed into communities to work in recovery hubs and outreach teams to assist the coordination and delivery of recovery services and volunteers, including the Care Army.
The Community Recovery team also supports disaster risk reduction and resilience by providing access to co-designed resources and tools that enable person-centred emergency planning, service provider business continuity planning and the inclusive engagement of people at heightened risk of vulnerability in disaster management planning processes.
Queensland State Archives helps Queenslanders connect with their past. The collection contains millions of records to help Queenslanders with truth-telling, family history and local area research. Records can be viewed in person at Runcorn or online through our catalogue.
