Plans for Queensland’s future — Toward Q2

Toward Q2 Tomorrow's Queensland

Can you imagine what Queensland might be like in 2020? Some of the biggest changes to the way we live have occurred in recent times with the evolution of new technologies and science.

In September, Premier Anna Bligh announced the Towards Q2 initiative to address Queensland’s vision for the next 12 years.

The Government framed its 2020 vision for Queensland around five areas that address future challenges for communities in every Queensland region. They are:

Within each of these areas, the Queensland Government has set targets to be achieved by 2020. The targets do not attempt to cover every area of government activity or community need.

In particular, many important issues, such as Indigenous disadvantage, housing and disability services, are already being addressed through reforms at both a state and national level, and this work will continue.

Tenants can get involved by participating in their local communities through the department’s Tenant Participation program. To find out how you can join your local Tenant Participation group, contact your nearest area office. To find out more about the Q2 initiative, visit the External website website.

What stage of life will you be at in 2020?

If your child started Prep this year, in 2020 he or she will be nearing the end of high school and starting to make big decisions about the future.

If you are in your early 20s, in 2020 you will be about one quarter of the way into your working life and probably in your second or third job.

If you are in your early 50s, in 2020 you will be approaching retirement.
