Launched in July 2008, the department’s PDF RentConnect (60Kb) advisory service is under trial at the Caboolture and Central Queensland Department of Housing area offices. RentConnect officers in the trial locations are working with people to identify what type of assistance they may need to find and secure a property in the local private rental market. This may include:

RentConnect officers may also link people to local real estate agents and community services in the trial locations. As part of the RentConnect service, a tenancy guarantee and a low cost loan to meet set-up costs, such as rent in advance and moving costs, will be available to eligible clients.
ConnectPoint computer terminals in the Caboolture and Central Queensland area offices allow RentConnect clients access to selected websites that may assist in their search for a rental home and also provide useful information on starting and maintaining a tenancy in the private rental market.
After the RentConnect trial, the department will evaluate the service before considering a further roll-out across the state.
