RentConnect advisory service trial
The department will also offer assistance through
RentConnect (25Kb). This new advisory service will initially be trialled in Caboolture and Central Queensland from late 2008.
RentConnect will involve local departmental officers working with people to identify what type of assistance they may need to find and secure a property to rent in the private market. This may include assisting with preparing rental applications and linking people to local real estate agents and community services. Low cost loans to meet set-up costs, such as rent in advance and moving costs, will also be available to eligible clients in the trial locations.
After the trial, the department will evaluate the RentConnect advisory service before considering further roll-out.
Assistance with bonds and rents
Renters in the private market can access assistance from the department with Bond Loans and Rental Grants.
If you receive a Bond Loan or Rental Grant from the department, remember to advise the department if you move. You should provide the department and your lessor/agent with your forwarding address.
What should I do if I am having problems with my lessor/agent?
The Department of Housing does not enter into disputes between lessors/agents and tenants. If you require assistance, contact the
Residential Tenancies Authority, your local
Tenant Advice and Advocacy Service (Queensland).
