Public housing, including Remote Indigenous Housing and Homelessness Programs, is secure and affordable rental housing for low to moderate income families and individuals, in particular, those who have difficulties accessing housing in the private market.

Emergency housing

Through its Crisis Accommodation Program, the department provides funds to community organisations and local governments to assist people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, in crisis and/or in need of transitional support in the move towards independent living.
Bond Loans
A Bond Loan is an interest free loan for people who cannot afford to pay a full rental bond to move into private rental accommodation.
Rental Grants

A Rental Grant is a once-only grant of two weeks rent to help meet some of the costs associated with moving into private rental accommodation. The grant does not have to be repaid and is designed to help people who are experiencing a housing crisis.
