Community Housing information bulletin - October 2007
Welcome to the fourth edition of the Community Housing information bulletin.
The recent months have seen continued hard work from service providers and Department of Housing staff members to:
- transition to the department-managed combined waitlist
- sustain a proactive approach to working within one social housing system
- strengthen relationships between service providers and area office staff to streamline waitlist management and allocations procedures.
The focus for the future is to successfully establish a better and fairer way to meet the needs of people requiring housing assistance. This can only be achieved if:
- registered service providers and the Department of Housing share the commitment of supporting people’s access to housing solutions and
- the local connections providers have within communities are used to link those in most need.
Service providers are encouraged to continue working with the department to implement one social housing system so that together, we can better meet the housing needs of our clients.
In this edition we provide an update on the staged implementation of one social housing system since February 2007 and report further ways the department is working to align these improvements across the delivery of housing-related services and re-design of funded programs.
