Snapshot of 2005-06

During 2005-06 the department:
- continues to improve the quality and value of the department’s housing by upgrading and renovating property which results in a more comfortable lifestyle for tenants and increased pride in the home;
- continues to improve the overall liveability of renewal suburbs for all residents through road widening and connection works and the redevelopment of parks to provide safer and more accessible community infrastructure; and
- is investing $28.5m to upgrade approximately 500 departmental properties in renewal areas. These upgrades will include improvements to bathrooms, kitchens, outdoor living spaces, fencing and car accommodation. This follows on from the success of the 2005-06 period, which saw $28.3m spent in similar upgrades across 492 properties.
