Site responsive dwelling design
Individual dwelling designs should respond to and work well in their individual site situation.
The repeated use of a single design (unrelated to site conditions, neighbourhood context, orientation, group layout, etc) is undesirable.

In example A:
- Dwellings 1 and 2 have a good aspect to the street and may have private space to the side.
- Dwellings 3 and 5 need to open to the rear and may have poor aspect into the central space.
- Unlike the others, Dwelling 4 has only two frontages and must be different from Dwellings 1 and 2, which are different from Dwellings 3 and 5.
- In turn, for reasons of orientation and maybe context, Dwelling 1 should not be a mirror image of 2, nor Dwelling 3 a simple flip of 5.
In example B:
- How do Dwellings 1 and 2 respond individually to their different eastern and western sides?
Reason:
- This is the design consequence of designing for amenity, climate, privacy and more.
