Design Decision-Making Process

Design Decision-Making Process

By designing a home right from the outset, you can save money on energy and water bills, as well as eliminating the need for costly retrofits that may arise as your lifestyle changes.

This is the philosophy that had guided the design and construction of the Research House, a joint project between the Department of Housing and Department of Public Works.

The Research House, located in Rockhampton in Central Queensland, is an inhabited four-bedroom home being used to test and validate the Smart Housing principles of environmental, economic and social sustainability.

Now available online, the Research House Design Decision-Making Process outlines this
extensive design decision-making process and provides a guide to assist industry and consumers who want to adopt similar practices in their own designs.

For more information, download the PDF Design Decision-Making Process (1.5Mb).
