The design decisions
In response to the site constraints, the department's research and design team consciously incorporated a number of design features into the single storey, four-bedroom family home. These features will assist in providing a comfortable, healthy, living environment that will be cool in summer and warm in winter, and will reduce energy consumption as a result. The research will focus on these design features and will record and analyse their effectiveness.
Town planning requirements, the corner allotment with a challenging north-west orientation, as well as restricted street access, affected design parameters.
