Design principles

Foyer of a house

The design principles describe the Department of Housing’s approach to housing design. They outline some broad issues of design, dealing with:

  • how dwellings relate to the public realm
  • how dwellings relate to each other, and
  • how dwellings relate to their outside environment.

Property Standard Index

The Property Standard Index is a decision support model which assists property portfolio managers to make informed strategic decisions about the management of their properties.

Research House

The Research House is Queensland's first ever house to test and demonstrate new and innovative technologies, building practices and products in a single, living sub-tropical environment. The aim of the project is to investigate ways to improve housing for Queenslanders.
