The Commonwealth State Housing Agreement 2003-08, made between the Australian, State and Territory Governments under the Housing Assistance Act 1996 (Commonwealth), outlines the strategic direction and offers funding certainty for the provision of housing assistance. The aim of this agreement is to ensure appropriate, affordable and secure housing assistance is delivered to those who most need it, for the duration of their need.
National Social Housing Surveys
All State housing authorities report annually to the Australian Government on data and performance indicators endorsed under the agreement. These results are available publicly at the
Australian Institute of Health and Welfare website.
Report on Government Services
The performance indicators for public housing, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing rental program, and community housing are also reported in the
Housing chapter of the annual Report on Government Services.
