Toward Q2: Tomorrow’s Queensland
In September 2008, the Premier launched
Toward Q2: Tomorrow's Queensland. This policy articulates a new vision for the future of Queensland and sets five ambitions for the whole state and for communities in every Queensland region. These ambitions set the scope for Queensland’s future. The five ambitions are:
Strong – we want to create a diverse economy powered by bright ideas
Green – we want to protect our lifestyle and environment
Smart – we want to deliver world-class education and training
Healthy – we want to make Queenslanders Australia’s healthiest people
Fair – we want to support a safe and caring community
Within these areas, ten targets have been identified for achievement by 2020. The targets do not cover every area of government activity or community need. Other important issues are already being addressed through agendas at both a state and national level.
The ambitions and targets replace the Government priorities and community outcomes which were the basis for the development of the department’s Strategic Plan for 2008-13. The Department of Housing will ensure that its operations during the term of this plan and into the future reflect the Government's ambitions and targets. Future strategic plans will state our relationship to the targets and how we contribute to the Government's overall vision for the State.
