Environmental Management Policy Statement
The Queensland Department of Housing's purpose is to increase access to secure, affordable and appropriate housing across Queensland.
The department’s Strategic Plan stresses the importance of increasing integration, cooperation and coordination to improve client outcomes. This approach is the foundation of service provision within the department.
In pursuing successful outcomes for our clients:- the department aims to increase its understanding of clients' housing needs and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its processes by harnessing and developing the talents, enthusiasm and skills of its staff;
- the department recognises the importance of continuously improving the way it does things;
- the department recognises the importance of contributing to the quality of the human and global environment and commits to full compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements;
- the department cares about the environmental impact of its policies, activities, products and services and wherever possible, will work to reduce this impact and avoid all forms of pollution; and
- the department has integrated its environmental policies and practices into all of its processes to ensure that all services to clients reflect that care and contribute to ecologically sustainable development within Queensland.
In pursuing these objectives, the Department of Housing has implemented an integrated management system that satisfies the requirements of the international standards for Quality Systems, AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 and Environmental Management System AS/NZS ISO 14001:2004.
